The World Health Organization (WHO) launched a WHO Health Alert on WhatsApp.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has launched the WHO Health Alert Chatbot to provide people with information about the novel coronavirus as the pandemic continues to spread across the globe. Following several misleading information shared on social platforms such as WhatsApp, the WHO in partnership with WhatsApp launched the chatbot with is currently provided only in English but will be available in other languages soon as well. WhatsApp announced the chatbot as part of its WhatsApp Coronavirus Information Hub, to provide simple, actionable guidance for health workers, educators, community leaders, nonprofits, local governments and local businesses that rely on WhatsApp to communicate.

WhatsApp also announced a $1M grant to the International Fact-Checking Network to support fact-checking for the #CoronaVirusFacts Alliance, to report on rumours that may be circulating on various messaging services including WhatsApp or SMS.
