Muchinga Province, established in 2011 through its detachment from the Northern Province, graces the northeastern landscape of Zambia. Its geography is a tapestry of connections, bordered by Luapula Province to the west, Northern Province to the northwest, Eastern Province to the east, and Central Province to the southwest. Stretching its boundaries further, Muchinga Province forms international ties with Tanzania to the north and Malawi to the east. The province finds its namesake in the majestic Muchinga Escarpment upon which it predominantly resides. Embracing a sweeping expanse that spans from southwest to northeast, Muchinga Province is characterized by its embrace of the iconic Muchinga Mountains (Muchinga Escarpment). Within this dynamic realm, the province thrives as one of Zambia’s ten provinces. Encompassing an impressive area of 87,806 square kilometres, it claims Chinsali as its capital and proudly asserts its unique place within Zambia’s diverse mosaic.
